I'm not particularly eager to go back to school, but at the same time, I'm excited to have something to do every day. This summer's been good, just a little long.
I went to Yellowstone and Park City a few weeks ago, and that was absolutely amazing. I mean, amazing.
Also worth mentioning: I have a new cat, named Charlie. I absolutely adore him, and he's actually a really affectionate little thing.
It's been a long summer, but it's been fairly interesting too. Adventures all over the place!
I really ought to be better about updating on here...

Six days.
Six days away from Carpinteria are six days too many.

Dig your heels into the sand, but it won't last.
Extra post today. I feel like I haven't really written anything lately, aside from a quick "About Today's Look" sort of thing.
Yesterday in my sociology class, my professor was talking about this summer abroad thing with one of the French professors. It's a month in Paris. I'd be packing already if it wasn't for the fact that the trip is $3300. It's not an insane amount, considering the fact that that includes transportation and room & board, but there's absolutely no way I could get that much by June.
So I've decided that I'm going to fight tooth and nail to do my fall semester abroad. Since I won't be able to transfer to Monterey Bay (my new school of choice, where I'll be majoring in marine science) until Spring 2013, I'll have a whole semester of, well, wasting time. I'll have all of my transfer units at the end of this semester, but, alas, life sucks and I can't even apply till, well, soon, I hope. So I'll have all of fall semester to either take random, boring classes at either COC or AVC, or study abroad. Really, I'd like to go anywhere, so long as I can travel somewhere. Does that make sense?
I need to start looking into the various programs, and costs, and how on earth I'm going to pay for it. Oi.
It's so worth it, though.

We all sleep inside of this machine.
So it's been a while. Well, it hasn't been too long, but you've missed out on some things!
I spent New Year's Eve sitting on the computer, which wasn't that exciting, but it was nice to just chill and have a solid internet connection. I feel like it's a real luxury.
I didn't do anything on the first, but on the second, I went to the Glendale Galleria with Casey and her dad. We then went to Thousand Trails to visit with people and play pool. We do love pool.
I went to Tucson with my family during the three-day weekend, and that was fun. I forgot how beautiful that desert is. It's not like ours; it's just so green. It's like another world to me.
We didn't do much. We spent a lot of time with my family (the family we were visiting. It was like a reunion). We spent a bit of time at the mall there, which I like a lot. I'm a mall rat, I really am. Oh, and Casey and I wandered the Arizona desert in the rain.

| Family portrait! Excuse my horrible hair. |
We came back on Monday night. I can never travel enough.
Last night, we went to a show to support a few of the bands we've been promoting. I would post photos, but, alas, I don't have any. I'm a bum.
And that's about it. The semester starts on February 6th, so I have that to look forward to. And by "look forward to", I mean "dread immensely." Dear everything, I hate getting up early.
And now that's about it. I hope you enjoyed your New Year's/the rest of January!

Do you feel strange on the inside?
The same old feeling are here, lurking and threatening to eat me alive.
I need to go somewhere. Somewhere new. Somewhere in the mountains, I think. I want to camp and be able to see the stars.
I'm feeling lonely. I want someone, but I don't want to stick my neck out and say "pick me!" I keep telling myself that I need to have more courage, but let's face it, I'm a coward. The mere thought of talking to someone I don't know, male or female or whatever, makes me want to find a hole. I've become a lot more antisocial within the last year. I can go for a full day without talking, and it doesn't bother me until I realise it.
I need a change.
Next fall can't come soon enough. This time next year, I'll be in Maine. I'll be somewhere I've never even seen before, and I can't wait.
No, seriously. I can't wait. At all.

You can't find your name in the script.
Let's start with a couple of photos from Carpinteria.
Seriously, I love this place so much. It's my home. Or, it will be. One day.
Anyway.
I still haven't talked to Luis since Tuesday. I don't know if I even really want to. Ugh, I hate this, not knowing. I really do.
But to make up for it all, I met a cute boy on the bus yesterday. It was quite a stroke of good luck, I think, since the bus was almost full. And, for the record, he talked to me. He has a great smile, and now I'm just waiting for him to add me on Facebook. He probably would have asked for my number if it hadn't been for an odd incident involving an older guy behind us and a children's book that may or may not exist.
Casey said it was adorable when I told her about how he waved to me when he got off the bus.
I have to agree.

It's all about the moderate climates.
How about a short, sweet update?
I went to Carpinteria for a few days in July. It was great, even if my brother was an idiot.
It took a lot to get me where I am right now, sitting at school on my laptop waiting for my math class to start. I'm still waitlisted, but I'm hopeful. And actually, this update is so brief because I really should get around to staring my homework.
I'm taking organismal biology, intermediate algebra, philosophy, and psychology. I'm most excited about bio, naturally.
I've been talking to Luis and I can't decide if I'm not into him, or if I'm just emotionally handicapped. I don't even know.
And that is all!

No, friend. I don't know, friend.
I know, it's been a long, long, long while. I get lazy when it comes to the internet. I think I'll be able to condense the past few months in a very brief post.
I'm going to fail my speech class. If I do pass, it'll be with a 60%. Whatever, I don't like that class and don't know why I took a coms class where I actually have to get up and give a speech. I'd rather play with daddy long legs. Except not really. In fact, I would rather give a speech than have anything to do with spiders.
I'm going to pass my SciFi class with flying colours. I mean, it would take more effort to fail it than it would to pass.
I'm doing well in bio, which I'm pretty pleased with.
I'm passing math by the grace of the gods, and the fact that I can play the system. Wow, I am a terrible student. I probably drive my teachers to drink.
I'm done with Luis. That's all there is to it. That's all that needs to be said.
Casey said she'll help me find someone this summer. Her end goal is a bit different from mine (with a distraction, I won't be able to distract her), but it's all good. Best friends are for insulting each other and helping each other.
My great uncle passed away last week. We're going to the funeral on Friday. I'm freaking out a little bit, but I know that after the fact, the whole thing will just disappear. I'm an expert at shoving away bad thoughts until they stop existing.
And other than the fact that I'm expecting an amazing summer, that's everything!

You approached me with your silhouette.
So, Monday starts the last week of the semester. And frankly, I'm absolutely stoked. I do like my classes, of course, and passing Shambala every mornining, and getting centuries of reading time, but I'm so sick of getting up at six in the morning for a ten o'clock class. For the next two months, I can get up at three in the afternoon if I so choose, and life will be awesome.
Yeah.
It's the little things.
I'm starting to get excited for Christmas. I decorated the house, no thanks to my niece, and soon, we'll be able to put the boxes away. Once my brother brings in the little trees, of course. Lazy freaking bum. But anyway, I can't wait to start baking. Miles and miles of kringla. I need to find a good recipe first, though.
My Christmas list is shorter than it's been in years. Purses, gloves, Audrey Hepburn films, basically anything from Crayola. There's one thing I'm hoping for above all others. It just has to be in stock. Immediately.
Please, please be in stock!
On a side note, I really, really, really need to go somewhere. Anywhere. I have Park City in my head, and Carpinteria, and San Diego, and Saddleback Butte. I need to go somewhere, and despite what my mom seems to think, commuting is absolutely not the same.
I need to go somewhere.

Talkin' back to the mirror.
I can't exactly say that I need a way to express my thoughts — I have way too many. I have at least five blogs. It's a lot, and some of them go for long, long, long stretches without any update. I dunno, I guess I like having so many different facets of myself. No blog will ever see the entirety of my mind, but if you piece them together, you start to get some semblance of a whole.
Anyway.
Um, a little background... I'm seventeen. I go to COC (College of the Canyons), but I'm hoping to transfer to a school in Maine in a couple years. Hopefully, I'll be able to move down there around January.
I grew up in the desert. Frankly, it's pretty...blah. The colours, the people, everything. My heart belongs to the ocean. It always will.
I'm fascinated by the world around me. I'm obsessed with knowing things. It borders on weird. I'm also very interested in the human mind, how it works and all that. Oh, and history — I love history. And English. And biology. And pointless facts. And art.
Music makes my life better. But books are my life. To me, they're home.
My existence would be nothing without words, starry skies, or travel.
I knit, and I don't mind the strange looks I get when I bring my knitting with me. Just be glad they're bamboo needles.
I'm nothing if not peculiar.
My mom thinks I'm technologically challenged. I'm beginning to think she's right. At the very least, all things with wires hate me.
Whose Line is it Anyway? is my life. So is Audrey Hepburn. And the colour turquoise. And cloudy skies.
That's all you need to know, really.
Okay.
