Keep your heart strong.

Guys, polar bears are brilliant.
You should all be aware that Cabin Pressure is my new favorite thing.
That is all.

Eyes like wildflowers.

I'm not particularly eager to go back to school, but at the same time, I'm excited to have something to do every day. This summer's been good, just a little long.
I went to Yellowstone and Park City a few weeks ago, and that was absolutely amazing. I mean, amazing.
Also worth mentioning: I have a new cat, named Charlie. I absolutely adore him, and he's actually a really affectionate little thing.
It's been a long summer, but it's been fairly interesting too. Adventures all over the place!
I really ought to be better about updating on here...

Six days.

Six days away from Carpinteria are six days too many.

Friday, May 4, 2012

My heart is a fist, and you're left of centre.

So, uh, I bought an iPad. It came in the mail yesterday, and I have to admit, it's my new favourite thing. Well, that, and Magic Piano. Not gonna lie. I even had it engraved to say "Put flowers on Algernon's grave" on the back. I'm a nerd, through and through.
This also means that I have Instagram. You can find me at starlithorizon, if you are so inclined.
Also, I really need a job now.
That is all.

Television and LIFE Magazine.

I'm thinking about asking for a job at the antique stores I frequent. It would be perfect! I could dress however I wanted (orange lipstick and all!), and I could handle the wares and get first pick, and I could hopefully get a discount, and, most importantly, I could get a steady income.
Casey, the loser that she is, basically talked me into getting an iPad. Don't let me play with your cool gadgets, because I will want to spend all the money I have on them. Ugh.
Also, I'm all signed up for my summer class. That's right, one whole class! I have to take English 102 to get that stupid critical thinking class I'm missing for the UC/CSU system. Somehow, critical reasoning doesn't count as critical thinking. Go figure.
Luckily, it's online. I'll probably just use my iPad for it.
I really, truly detest Casey. Though not really, cause she's sort of my best friend.
Anyway, that's all. How about a picture of a cute animal to reward you for reading this?

Can't make no sense of this.

Today we celebrated Casey's birthday. It was on Monday, and I got her a present (an awesome one, by the way), but we didn't get the chance to hang out. So today, we chilled at her house for a while before walking to Katz 'n' Jammers for lunch. We wandered the Boulevard, got books from the Friends of the Library sale, had cupcakes (hers had a sparkler and everything), and sang all over the place. I would call today awesome, and I would be right.

My cupcake looked like an egg, but it was lemon.

Dress from Torrid, shoes from Payless, bracelets from
Claire's and Casey, sunglasses from Tilly's, thrifted

bag, shoes from Payless.
Also, we found a blue wall and a patch of Astroturf, as you can plainly see. It seemed like a good idea for an OOTD post.

I think in decimals and dollars.

Do you know what animal I find absolutely adorable?
Cuttlefish.
No, seriously. The Cutest Cephalopod Award goes to the cuttlefish. Plus, they're actually really cool. You should Google them.
This has been a pointless, marine-creature-related post.

Wednesday, March 28, 2012

A better day is comin' my way.

I'm back, and I'm not sick anymore, and it's glorious. Glorious, I tell you!
I'm starting another blog for things like recipes and clothes and pictures of pretty things and whatnot. I'll continue posting here, but I'm just sharing the information because that's how I roll.
Anyway.
Nothing exciting is happening in my life. My purple is almost all gone (I think I'll re-dye on Friday, though. I dunno), and I planted a bunch of flowers and some basil. I'm currently hoping that they don't all die, cause I sort of have a black thumb. I hope I don't kill my new best friend!
My new best friend is a pot of African violets, by the way.
Yeah.
It's almost the end of March, but it's not nearly close enough to July to justify just how excited I am to go to Carpinteria this summer. And Mammoth. At least, I think it's Mammoth. But mostly Carpinteria. Unfortunately we won't be able to camp, but there's a Motel 6 there and it's a short, pleasant walk from the rest of the town and I really, really, really just want to be there right now. That is all there is to it.
Please, semester, just end already.
Especially you, sociology class. Especially you.
Thankfully spring break is next week, that will be the halfway mark. On the 10th, I will be closer to the end than the beginning. Now if the end of the semester would hurry up already...
Boring classes make for an impatient Sarah.

We should live until we die.

So, not much to report.
I've had a cold, so I just haven't felt like doing anything, like existing. All I've wanted to do is sleep. Luckily, I've actually done stuff, so there's more for me to write about than taking a bunch of naps.
On Friday, I got bangs and purple hair, went to a show, went to Denny's, and hid someone's dessert.
On Saturday, I went to Denny's, played pool, and lost. Horrifically.
All week, I had to convince myself to go to school. Yep, I'm at the point where few things sound better than skipping. I swear, I'm hoarding my off days so I can just use them all in May. I am a fabulous student.
Unfortunately, my hair isn't this purple anymore. I'm not sure if I'll just re-dye it myself after it fades completely, or if I'll get it dyed another colour, or what I'll do. I think this all depends on how expensive it is and how cheap I am. I feel like I'll be doing it myself. No big deal.
So that's it. Hopefully I'll be more interesting soon!

I've had some time alone, to hone my lying technique.

Last day of Fatshion February!
Yeah!
Maybe it didn't call for exclamation marks. Whatever. Clearly I didn't end it with a bang. I ended it by being warm, okay? It is February after all.
Torrid top, Ross coat, mom's skirt, Old Navy scarf, WalMart tights, messy bed.
Payless shoes.
I did like posting my outfits every day, even if some of them were spectacularly boring. And I mean watching-grass-grow boring. I mean let-rabid-squirrels-eat-me-alive-please boring.
I clearly live a fascinating life.

Sparks fly upward in ascent.

Today is my brother's thirty-first birthday. We got no In-N-Out and two chocolate cakes. It's all good, except for the fact that the cake is a little too good. Oh, well, it's his birthday and he wanted cake and he got a lot of it.
Also, this outfit would have looked better with tights instead of leggings, but it was cold and that clouded my judgement.
Forever 21 dress, sunglasses from Venice, WalMart leggings, Old Navy
camisole.
Payless shoes.

Monday, February 27, 2012

My ear upon the ground, listening for truth.

Today wasn't exciting. It never is. It snowed, and I felt like a hazard with a Bunsen burner.
Coat from Ross, tee-shirt from Lane Bryant, skirt made by my mom, tights
from WalMart, shoes from Vans, bracelet from Casey, black bangle from Claire's.

Sunday, February 26, 2012

You've got me in a death roll.

Today was full of adventures, like grocery shopping, exchanging hair toner for nail polish, and not getting my hair dyed. Tuesday, though.
Thrifted shirt, mom's skirt, Payless shoes.

Saturday, February 25, 2012

Sputter, stop, and fall into energy.

Lazy, lazy, lazy day. Believe me when I say that I just got dressed for the sake of a picture.
Sweater from Torrid, skirt from my mom, thrifted tee, WalMart headband,
DIY necklace.
Vintage bangles that I wore yesterday and forgot to document.
Payless shoes.

Friday, February 24, 2012

Gotta love the age of stupidity.

I went to the mall with Erika today. We spent a lot (a lot) of time in Sephora, got dinner at Red Robin, and went home. I got a few things (nail polish, mini things from Bath and Body Works), which is weird for me. I didn't spend much, though, so it's all good.
Even if I wore the exact same skirt/tights/boots yesterday. Thug life.
Shirt is thrifted, belt and skirt from Fashion Bug, headband (which you can
hardly see) is from Forever 21, bag is from Ross, tights are from WalMart,
boots are from Payless, sunglasses are from Tilly's.
DIY necklace.
Erika, who serenades me in the car. My hair, who hates me today.

Thursday, February 23, 2012

All your hugs and kisses, and money too.

Not much to report today. Went to my classes. Went to Casey's house instead of the Boulevard. Took pictures of my niece and nephew. Listened to Buddy Holly.
Tomorrow, I fully plan on sleeping in till an unholy hour, like three in the afternoon.
Tee-shirt is from Torrid, skirt from Fashion Bug, WalMart tights, DIY collar.
Payless boots, niece's feet.

Wednesday, February 22, 2012

Talking back to the mirror.

Nothing to report today, except that I messed around with sulfur today. It's like formaldehyde to me—you can still smell it, long after the lab. Ugh.
Sweater from Fashion Bug, dress from Ross,  necklace from Forever 21.
Shoes from Payless. Also, they're ridiculously comfy.

Tuesday, February 21, 2012

All that waiting, not a single smile.

I almost forgot to get a picture today! Well, the crisis was clearly averted.
My original plan had a pair of tights, but leggings and supreme comfort won.
WalMart leggings and a dress made by my mom.
Vintage cuff and nails that I think are totally awesome. But then, of course I
do—I did them myself. They're like my babies.
Vintage necklace. This is actually my prized possession.
Payless shoes.

Monday, February 20, 2012

It's up to us to turn the tide.

Just a boring day at WalMart. I did feel like adding something interesting to an otherwise boring (warm) outfit, so I put on one of my favourite necklaces.Ye-uh.
Dress and bag are from Ross, leggings and sweater are from WalMart,
Necklace from Sea World. This is one of my favourites because, well, I just
really love sharks, okay?
Payless shoes.

Sunday, February 19, 2012

We prayed for satellites.

I felt like dressing like a witch today, so I did. Well, I tried.
The shirt is from Marshall's, the skirt is from my mom's closet. Yeah.
Wedges from Marshall's.
Vintage cuff.

Saturday, February 18, 2012

Don't just put me in a box.

I was tempted to be painfully lazy and just photograph myself in my pajamas today. Clearly, that didn't work out, since I decided that I wanted to dress up a bit today. I kind of wanted to pretend that it was summer already.
Hat and dress from WalMart
Gold bangle from Claire's, last blue bracelet from the fair a couple years ago,
and I don't even remember where I got the other two.
Forever 21 necklace, unfortunate breakout.
Wedges from Payless.

Friday, February 17, 2012

Dig your heels into the sand, but it won't last.

Extra post today. I feel like I haven't really written anything lately, aside from a quick "About Today's Look" sort of thing.
Yesterday in my sociology class, my professor was talking about this summer abroad thing with one of the French professors. It's a month in Paris. I'd be packing already if it wasn't for the fact that the trip is $3300. It's not an insane amount, considering the fact that that includes transportation and room & board, but there's absolutely no way I could get that much by June.
So I've decided that I'm going to fight tooth and nail to do my fall semester abroad. Since I won't be able to transfer to Monterey Bay (my new school of choice, where I'll be majoring in marine science) until Spring 2013, I'll have a whole semester of, well, wasting time. I'll have all of my transfer units at the end of this semester, but, alas, life sucks and I can't even apply till, well, soon, I hope. So I'll have all of fall semester to either take random, boring classes at either COC or AVC, or study abroad. Really, I'd like to go anywhere, so long as I can travel somewhere. Does that make sense?
I need to start looking into the various programs, and costs, and how on earth I'm going to pay for it. Oi.
It's so worth it, though.

Sound the battle call.

I got all kinds of athletic today. And it wasn't just the outfit! I feel like my bike missed me terribly.
Fashion Bug tunic and sports bra, WalMart leggings, superawesome Tilly's
sunglasses from Warped.
Payless shoes.
Ten points if you guess which bike is mine. They're the easiest ten points
you will ever win.

Thursday, February 16, 2012

He better start lookin' today.

I went to the farmer's market after school today. I dressed for warmth, and it showed. I had my purple Old Navy scarf today, but I'd taken it off by the time I took the photo. Oh, well.
I feel like my outfits are getting dull. I must fix this!
Ross coat, Sure shirt, mom's skirt, WalMart tights, bracelet from Casey.
Payless boots.

Wednesday, February 15, 2012

Excited for the future.

Today was long and cold. It definitely feels like February. Things got interesting when some kid showed me a couple of card tricks. I'm just gullible enough to love magic tricks like that.
Coat from Ross, thrifted scarf, WalMart tights, Lane Bryant tee-shirt, skirt
from Fashionbug.
Vans shoes.
DIY necklace.

Tuesday, February 14, 2012

Make it break my trust.

Today is brought to you by a lazy student, the colour red, and the desire to be festive.
Forever 21 dress, WalMart tights, vintage bracelet.
Avenue
Claire's necklace from a million years ago.
Wedges from Ross
Happy Valentine's Day, guys. I hope you all stuffed your faces with chocolate, or strawberries, or a combination of the two.
